Pos Software

A point of sale (POS) is basically a computerized terminal that replaces a cash register. has many successful implementations of POS, it may be necessary to consult reseller who has both expertise pos software and hardware. Today's pos software can be found in many organizations, which may be a service desk like you find in restaurants, entertainment outlets, lodgings, and museums. IBM was the first to introduce pos software, with its IBM 3650 and 3660 Store Systems, in the year 1973. It was used in Pathmark Stores of New Jersey and Dillard’s department stores. However, today there are hundreds of types of pos software to suit individual needs of a business. The most popular and sought after pos software are those catering to restaurants and retail stores.  The basic necessities for installation of pos software are computers, scanners, keyboards, printers, and cash registers. It is also necessary to have barcode printing software, inventory software and cash register software for the smooth running of a business with pos software.  With pos software, you will be able to integrate all the physical devices that are found in the pos system. This is because the pos software is in computer language and facilitates automated data processing. There are different types of pos software that are created to suit the needs of different organizations and businesses. With the help of pos software, it is possible to monitor day to day activities of a business and the systematic running of the businesses. The software helps business to keep track of all incomes and expenditures that the business incurs in its running. All this is made possible through touch screen information kiosks and vending machines. The reason you need to have pos software to speed up your business transactions and for accurate budgeting, is so that you can have the maximum increase in the profits of your business.

Templates Save Time

If you find you are frequently adding the same group of inventory items to an invoice, then a Template could save you time. Common uses for templates are computer systems, aquarium starter sets, living room suites, kits, and a host of other “sets” of inventory.

A Template saves time because…

  1. • It is a listing of several inventory items to be sold as a group, created in advance, and used over and over
  2. • It uses just one SKU to sell all the items eliminating many keystrokes
  3. • It is easy to adjust selling quantities en masse
  4. • It is able to control selling prices, offering discounts and price reductions for buying the whole set

One SKU Sells a “Set” of Several Items

This is the easiest setup. Just create a template and add the items to be sold.

Cash Register

Every retail business has a cash register that is important as it helps in the handling of cash transactions and other transactions. The first types of cash registers functioned like totaling machines and calculators. These calculators produced a ring every time a totaling was done. The safety device in these cash registers was that the cash drawer could be opened only on the recording of a sale or with a key that was usually with the shop owner.

The modern day cash registers are more advanced and include bar code scanners, cash drawer, pole display, receipt printer, computer, monitor. Bar codes are used to retrieve the prices of goods from a central database. Cash register software are generally connected to computer so that cash transactions are recorded and tax, calculated automatically. There are other functions of a cash register that includes the recording of sales, calculations of discounts and control of the inventory, accounting, reports, etc.

The cash register of today is usually a part of a complete point of sale or POS system. It is with the help of a POS system that, accounts and business transactions of a business is calculated. The main reason that a cash register has is very important to maintain information that the business needs to remain competitive,  petty cash for business transactions, return as change to customers, maintain customer accounts..

The other use of a cash register lies in calculating the amount of money spent, and received in a business day. The cash register also helps in reconciling receipts and in the balancing of the cash drawer. With the balancing of the cash drawer, you can tell if you have made a profit or loss in a day of business.

Today, you can find many cash registers under the price range of $1200. You may think that these low priced cash registers offer low prices, with low functionality. However,  they are as efficient as the higher priced cash registers

Cellular POS/Wireless POS Management

Cellular POS/Wireless POS Management

The computer has made all sorts of businesses easy to handle today. You can today find POS software catering to all types of businesses, including cellular / wireless outlets. POS is the acronym for point of sale, and cellular point of sale software is the software that is installed for cellular businesses. Dependable software for a wireless dealer is critical in the specialized cellular industry. Maintaining maximum control of a cellular retail business is impossible without the assurance that only reliable inventory software can provide. Positive runs on MS SQL or other compatible SQL database. Positive software is inventory driven and is a stand alone, and if you’re looking for inventory software, Positive Retailer products maintain seamless inventory software control from purchase ordering to point-of-sale, saving you time and money

With cellular point of sale/ Wireless Pos, you may need to invest in POS hardware. The POS hardware is basically the same for most POS systems. It consists of computer peripherals like PC, cash drawers, bar code scanners, Receipt Printers, Pole Display, credit card processors. There are many vendors offering point of sale for the cellular POS software from different companies; however, there are important questions you need to ask the vendor.

1.      Interface with popular Accounting Packages2.      Inventory Control (Serialized)3.      Commission Tracking and Reconciliation4.      Centralized Database Management5.      Support and Training6.      Software Upgrades7.      Multi-Store /Multi-Location Support8.      Ecommerce Integration Before you actually decide on buying cellular / wireless POS software, it is necessary that you ask for all the features that you would like to have in the cellular POS software.

It is always better to invest on POS hardware only after having chosen your POS software. This is because different software works on different computer hardware; the POS software that runs in UNIX may not work on the computer that uses windows browser.  It is also important that you choose both the software and hardware from a reputable company; preferable one that also offers support for your computer needs. This way, you can be sure that the hardware and software will be compatible to each other, and that you can be assured of help in case the software or hardware problems.

Typical features that are needed in a cellular point of sale software are: discount, support for serial numbers, customer tracking, commission payment for sales staff. Of course, with the cellular POS software, you can also get an idea of the exact cost of each transaction, without any need of  guesswork.  Whatever the cellular / wireless POS software is that you choose it might be necessary for you to have the vendor provide the training on the use of their point of sale software.
