Metrologic’s MS9540 VoyagerCG

Metrologic’s MS9540 VoyagerCG offers high performance scanning, a futuristic design and a more intuitive scanning system than other conventional, triggered scanners.

9540.jpg The MS9540 VoyagerCG is designed to replace triggered scanners. In doing so, Metrologic’s engineering department incorporated a feature called CodeGate that makes the MS9540 more intuitive to use than a triggered scanner. Using Metrologic’s patented auto-trigger, the laser is automatically activated when a bar code is presented, allowing the user to easily select the bar code. Then with a press of the CodeGate button, the data is transmitted to the host system. This unique concept makes VoyagerCG perfect for menu-scanning. When the MS9540 is placed in its stand, CodeGate can be automatically deactivated allowing VoyagerCG to be used as a fully automatic presentation scanner.

VoyagerCG includes the ability to decode the emerging Reduced Space Symbology (RSS). Industries including supermarkets, pharmaceutical, and healthcare are beginning to utilize this new symbology.

Features and Benefits:

• Automatic trigger with CodeGate
• Decodes RSS-14, RSS Limited and RSS Expanded bar codes
• User-replaceable, single cable interface to host
• Adjustable stand
• Firmware updates via Flash ROM
• Custom edit the bar code data
• Easy programming using Windows software or bar codes
• Supports commonly used interfaces, including Keyboard Wedge and USB
• OPOS and JPOS system compatible

Amigo Pos Retail Sales Module

Convenience stores, grocery stores and other high volume retail outlets can now leverage the power of Amigo POS. Until now, c-store operators have had to combine disparate POS applications to handle retail sales and restaurant sales. Amigo POS allows you to maintain the familiar user interface while offering an integrated retail module that is second to none.

  • integrated support for NCI register scales for single-touch bulk item and produce sales.
  • integrated support for CAS deli scales for easy scanning of barcoded deli items.
  • two single-touch lists are available for popular items without barcodes; i.e. coffee and donuts.
  • optional interface to your Micros® compatible property management system – charge gift shop sales, counter sales and restaurant sales to a guest folio with ease.
  • optional 8000+ item retail database including unit/item/case SKU and tax type. This will cover virtually any item found in most small grocery stores, c-stores, gas stations, etc. Eliminates the need to enter your items individually during the program setup and will save literally hundreds of hours in data entry.
  • bulk items can be sold by weight or unit. Check out the bulk item screen for the most intuitive produce entry screen available.
  • easily scan retail items onto the restaurant order-entry screen for mixed food – retail tickets
  • automatic age verification pop-ups for cigarettes and beer sales
  • real-time inventory tracking
  • integrated reporting allows viewing itemized retail and restaurant sales on the same report.
  • much, much more!
  • Metrologic Releases New Scanner/Scale – the MS2400 Stratos®

MS2400 Stratos five-sided bioptic scanner/scale is now available worldwide.

Blackwood, New Jersey – September 10, 2007 — Metrologic Instruments, Inc. today announced the release of the newest edition to the company’s line of 360°-bioptic scanners.  The MS2400 Stratos five-sided bioptic scanner/scale increases productivity in demanding, high-volume seated and small checkout environments.  The MS2400 Stratos is now available for purchase worldwide.

In addition to supporting the Stratos family’s exclusive patented features, the MS2400 Stratos comes with more than 10 additional enhancements, including: a faster microprocessor, advanced decoding software and the ability to perform firmware Flash upgrades via a USB interface.  The MS2400’s patented independent scanning planes and modular design promote easy set up, lower maintenance costs and ensure continuous operation.

The MS2400 Stratos separates itself from the competition with its scanning architecture which was specifically designed to handle poor quality codes.  To help retailers boost checkout productivity, the MS2400 Stratos reads high-density codes as small as 4.5 mil and gives operators using a rapid scanning motion the ability to process a product in a single pass regardless of orientation.

“The MS2400 Stratos represents our unrelenting commitment to providing our customers with the latest advantages that will increase their ROI and protect their investments in POS infrastructure,” said Mark Hernandez, senior product manager for Metrologic.  “Because we didn’t want to rest on the success of the MS2200 StratosS, we went back to our customers to ensure we continued to meet their needs.  The MS2400 Stratos is the culmination of our effort to give our customers a scanner/scale that improves the checkout experience for both the cashier and the customer.”

    Bar Code Scanners

The Barcode scanner is the workhorse of the POS array. It was the introduction of barcodes on virtually every product that enabled the POS or point of sale  to become the nerve center of the retail operation. Barcode scanners are available in several different types including the hand held scanner, the pen scanner, and the fixed surface scanners. The fixed surface scanner where product barcodes are dragged over the lens is the most common at retail outlets. The hand held scanners, and pen scanners are more versatile, and are often used in conjunction with fixed surface scanners to augment the POS capability especially when large or unwieldy items are involved. The smaller and more mobile scanners also serve inventory functions as they can be carried easily out among the product displays, and certain types of fixed surface scanners have applications in manufacturing and logistical settings.

The barcodes themselves that are displayed on the product contain a simple numeric code that is read by the scanner. The scanners use several different methods for reading the barcode, usually involving light and the software of the scanner translates the optical image into a readable number. By coding this number to the product, a scan can be transformed into a price readout at the Point of sale or it can be sent internally to a data base tracking sales results or inventory control levels.

Since the use of barcodes and scanners has spread beyond the retail market into such areas as manufacturing and logistical control, the number of scanners available has grown steadily as their cost has dropped. Even mail carriers are now using hand held scanners to verify package delivery and fixed surface scanners are used to sort mail. This explosion of usage and function has made the barcodes and the barcode scanners that read them one of the most essential tools in the ever expanding technology of the modern market place.

    Metrologic MS9500 Series Scanner

Metrologic Voyager MS9500 Series laser bar code scanner has a futuristic design and advanced barcode scanning system.

Metrologic Voyager is the most advanced single-line, hand-held barcode scanner on the market today.

The Voyager MS9540 features Metrologic’s proprietary CodeGate technology.

CodeGate is an intuitive scanning system that is ideal for all scanning applications, including menu-scanning, Point-of-Sale, document processing, and inventory, just to name a few.

CodeGate works hand-in-hand with Metrologic’s patented automatic-triggering scheme. Simply present a barcode to the scanner; the high-visibility, 650mm laser is automatically activated allowing the user to easily select the bar code to be scanned. Press the CodeGate button and the data is transmitted to the host system.

Equipped with both In-Stand and Out-of-Stand operation, Metrologic Voyager can be used as both a handheld and fixed projection scanner.

Metrologic Voyager MS9540 automatically senses when it is placed in the hands-free stand and de-activates the CodeGate button.

The Metrologic MS9520 triggerless model is packed with all of the same features as the Metrologic MS9540, with the exception of CodeGate.
